Re: 30 Window Managers in 30 days

A big, big thank you 2ManyDogs for this astonishing and veritable feast. New to Crunchbang and Openbox, and for two weeks thought I had found my perfect system. Then I read your thread. Thanks to you I've now installed my first ever tiling wm and I'm loving the combination of Crunchbang and i3 working together. Many thanks again to you sir, you are one of my all time Linux heroes!

2013. Best thread award:

Hey... anyone ever look at notion? Its a fork of ION3, i think its similar to awsome and its Lua based. Ive used it before on freebsd.

otherwise I think im sold on Larswm just based on the review.. should i be talked out of it?

Re: 30 Window Managers in 30 days

I've checked posts since July 12th 2013 (release date of LinuxBBQ gangbang) and none are mentioning that spin of LinuxBBQ which is incredible to try all WMs out there  devil

Re: 30 Window Managers in 30 days

I should have checked out this thread much sooner.  2ManyDogs and other contributors, thank you.  This is a huge resource to a lot of people, and I learned a good deal.

I can't wait to give dwm a whirl.

Re: 30 Window Managers in 30 days

Well hello there everybody big_smile I'm so glad that this thread is still going on. I have a question - I don't like WindowMaker very much but I do like some of it's dockapps, which I used in Vtwm alot, but... has anyone tried to use them in a tiling wm? I would love to use a tiler like Scrotwm or Herbstluft, so how would dockapps like, say WMspaceclock, Docker, WMmix and WMdrawer behave in there? Is there any way to reserve a fixed space for them where they reside unaffected by any window/tiling activities, kind of like the slit in Fluxbox or "AppletRegion" in Vtwm?

Re: 30 Window Managers in 30 days

I've noticed that nobody mentioned a nice minimalist window manager: Golem. Neither in the LinuxBBQ CD exists, I wonder why...

Re: 30 Window Managers in 30 days

Great post. I read it long time ago and I am still coming back.
If possible, please fix the links in first post (errors due to domain and forum organization changes)

PS.: @mods : how about automatic link fix?
