Re: [solved]should i upgrade or not?

You cannot 'upgrade' an Ubuntu install Crunchbang.  As #! is based on Debian and not Ubuntu.

The Ubuntu Devs have changed their distro, so much, that Ubuntu and Debian are no longer compatible nor interchangeable.

You can add the Openbox WM to Ubuntu and make it 'appear' more "crunchy"

That link is from when #!Crunchbang "was" based on Ubuntu.

#!Crunchbang switched to a Debian-base when #!Statler-10 was released.

Re: [solved]should i upgrade or not?

so i decided to test and see if Debian Squeeze would boot on my machine. i d/l'd and burned the live cd and it booted up fine. i was surprised that it did because when i d/l'd and burned #! 10 statler it wouldnt work i kept getting a timeout error ( i intend on using my brothers digi camera to take pictures of the error messages). considering that statler is based off squeeze it should work correctly right? im happy with #! 9 but just bothered by the fact that i cant seem to get 10 to work.

Are you getting these time out I/O errors when you try to install or just boot from the live CD? I had weird error issues in the past w/live cd's that was the result of a failing CD/DVD reader/burner. I replaced it.

Re: [solved]should i upgrade or not?

i was getting a timeout error trying to boot from #! statler cd same error if i tried to just install it(i cant off the top of my head tell you the exact error) hence why i decided to go with the squeeze netinst and then run the script that Ozitraveller posted in the scipts n tips section. and i must say im very pleased with the way squeeze runs. at 1st i wasnt sure about xfce but now im loving it. i disabled the xfce panel and am using tint2 panel. all i have left to do is figure out how to make the terminal part of the wallpaper on xfce.

Re: [solved]should i upgrade or not?

Could you tell me what machine you used to install #! on it?
I have a little history and some similar experiences.
Some distros won't boot/install on my system from CD nor USB because of my BIOS, they are Fedora, OpenSuse and CrunchBang. Anything else runs and installs here. I always ask myself what the hell is the reason for this on my crappy HP laptop. I guess my BIOS.

In the virtual machine they are running just fine.

As for Xfce's terminal, open it, right click e.g., go to appearance and then to background and change it to use your background. I think that should work.

Re: [solved]should i upgrade or not?

my machine is a gateway dx 4200... bengal rs780 mobo amd phenom 9550 X4 6 gigs ddr2 ram ati radeon hd 3200 series grfx card. as for terminator on XFCE when i right click and choose prefrences it only lets me change the backround of the terminal window, doesnt let me actually "fork" it to the backround like conky is.

Re: [solved]should i upgrade or not?

Ok.

And I see you do not use the xfce4-terminal. So, do not know, I neither use Terminator.
