My version of the "HUD-week-2 combo" -->
This shows:
Ext 250GB HDD not mounted - USB - not mounted
Ext 250GB HDD mounted
Ext 250GB HDD mounted - USB mounted
Ext 250GB HDD not mounted - USB mounted
I won't include the VSIDO orb that can be any image you want really - a distro logo.
This would make a nice one for CrunchBang, I can't find the round one by omns.

ability to set any size for background mrpeachy 2011
ability to set variables for bg in conkyrc dk75
the change is that if you set width and/or height to 0

Above and After TEXT (requires a composite manager or it blinks!)
lua_load ~/wea_conky/draw_bg.lua
TEXT
${lua conky_draw_bg 10 0 0 0 0 0x000000 0.4}

Well no doubt the NOOB borked this up BAD. LOL I edited the conkyrc_hud with the correct paths to the images, lua scripts ect.
This was the result. Look quick, this is ugly LOL at the minimum, not sure why none of the images drew to the screen? I was expecting this not to be right the first time, but was not expecting this. LOL
This is the output from terminal. I obviously did SOMETHING, maybe A LOT of SOMETHINGS wrong. LOL

Ok, making a "little" progress but still A LONG WAY OFF
Looks promising. I like it a lot, but I see that there is still some polish to do, mainly with the conky-config, but it will look awesome when it`s finsihed. Awesome Wall. Love it.

OH OH! I didn't see this coming. A few years back I ran into a problem with vnstat using:
Mar '13
I can't remember if it was conky that complained about the ' or something else, probably conky if you look at the commands:
grep "`date +"%b %y"`" <--- works
grep "`date +"%b '%y"`" <--- doesn't work
So I checked
man vnstat
and saw:

This directory contains all databases the program uses. Files are named according to the monitored inter‐

/etc/vnstat.conf

CLICK: unless $HOME/.vnstatrc exists
ever since then I have been using: $HOME/.vnstatrc (~/.vnstatrc) and in there I got rid of the ' before the year.

Here is the screeny, this is temporary until I can get the info conky S11 provided working.
Use another desktop, or pop conkys into windows - open them to look at, close them when not wanted.
Like network connections - unless you're running a server - not necessary - but it is doable and neat to have:
Put a conky in a window - drop the undecorated and sticky:
own_window_hints skip_taskbar,skip_pager

Well, I did not have vnstat installed, so that was part of the problem, but the issue now is, I can get anything to line up and for the life of me, I can't get lua rings to populate. Here is an example of the .conky_HUD that you posted about a week ago.
Something tells me I am missing a package that works with lua. I have conky-lua installed vice the normal conky package, I do have lua installed so not real sure at this point.
Thanks as ALWAYS for the assist,

Hi all It's been awhile since I have been in the forums. Been busy and going thru a few personal battles. Anyway, I was sent a PM asking me to share the latest code for the last unfinished conky I was working on. I don't have much time,but I hope someone is able to finish it . http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30953293/Conky.tar.gz

In a terminal:
conky -V
It should end with:
... ...
... ...
* apcupsd
* iostats
* ncurses
* Lua
Lua bindings:
* Cairo
* Imlib2

If it doesn't end like that you need to update your conky version. Not sure how you do that in ARCH though.

Or; I would imagine: LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8 or LC_ALL=en_CA.UTF-8, etc would work as well as long as they are English based?
SUPER stuff dk75 - logged that one in a text file for future use.

Not really.
Only "en_US.UTF-8" locales are installed by default in all distributions regardless of user selected one.

Hmmmmmm ... I didn't know that. I deleted en_US.UTF-8 here the only one I have is en_CA.UTF-8.
I originally set it up to use en_CA.UTF-8 on install. I found out quite by accident that it was still using en_US.UTF-8
So I guess what you say makes sense.
That's why did: How To: Change the Default Locale
Will store that away little tidbit away as well. Thank you yet again.

No idea how to display different backgrounds of each desktop but with conkys it's easy.
1. install wmctrl
2 create the conkys you want on a single desktop without "sticky"
own_window_hints undecorated,below,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
3. last lne in OpenBox's autostart bash script starts a StartStopConky bash script:
## Start conkys
(sleep 5s && /media/5/Conky/OBMenuS/S11_T2_SSC.sh) &
And here's mine: S11_T2_SSC.sh
#!/bin/bash
# click to start, click to stop
if pidof conky | grep [0-9] > /dev/null
then
exec killall conky
else
# on all desktops
conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_Email_1.conky &
# Start with low sleep and build sleep up per desktop to allow conkys to start before switching.
# wmctrl starts with 0 so "wmctrl -s 3" is desktop 4
# on desktop 4 only
# (sleep 0s && wmctrl -s 3 && conky -c /media/5/conky/Bruce_Conky/S11_HUD3.conky) &
# on desktop 3 only
(sleep 5s && wmctrl -s 2 && conky) &
(sleep 5s && wmctrl -s 2 && conky -c /media/5/conky/main.conky) &
# on desktop 2 only (change to 5s if using desktop 3)
(sleep 7s && wmctrl -s 1 && conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_Dates.conky) &
(sleep 7s && wmctrl -s 1 && conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_VNS.conky) &
(sleep 7s && wmctrl -s 1 && conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_Rem_Cal.conky) &
(sleep 7s && wmctrl -s 1 && conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_Disk_Activity.conky) &
# on desktop 1 only (change to 10s if using desktop 3)
(sleep 9s && wmctrl -s 0 && conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_ConkyForecast_2013) &
(sleep 9s && wmctrl -s 0 && conky -c /media/5/Conky/S11_Cal_br.conky) &
exit
fi
Hope that is what you wanted.

Openbox itself does not manage the desktop wallpaper so you will have to use an app that can set different wallpaper for each desktop. I know that feh and nitrogen can set a different wallpaper for individual screens (dual monitor), but I don't know if it will do the same for desktops.

i have a problem with the type of my file system:
this is the code:
local fs_folder_root=conky_parse('${fs_free /}')
local typ_hdd_root=conky_parse("${fs_type /}")
out({x=0,y=130,c=dunkel,face="italic",shaded="yes",txt='root:'})
out({x=200,y=130,c=hell,face="italic",shaded="yes",txt=chgEnd(fs_folder_root,',')..' ('..typ_hdd_root..')',hj='r'})
it should be 'ext4'. do u have an idea how to fix this problem? it works when i display the type of another folder!
i compared this output with the output of gparted.

Take a look at Wallpapoz.
From the author:
The most important feature is you could have Gnome and XFCE desktop wallpaper changes when you change workspace. It means you could group your wallpapers into specific workspace.
EDIT:
Found this link to the latest version deb.
