Re: November 2010 Screenshot thread

I recall someone in october screenshot thread said he wished there were a cli music visualiser, and today I've learned that there is one and decided to give it a try. )

It's in ncmpcpp, you most likely have to build it from source to enable the visualiser, because it would require libs most package supporters would think to be overhead for plain console music player.

# Arch users can just install the latest version from aur

You also will have to edit your mpd configuration file so that it makes two streams - one to your audio device and one to fifo, so that ncmpcpp visualiser could... errr... analyse the latter.

So here are aforementioned configs for your reference:
http://pastebin.com/bCCgXuev
http://pastebin.com/2i11keK1

And the result:

s_1288998887_a72674c3d7.png

#there is a more advanced standalone analyser though

Working on fixing up conky's colors a bit more. But what I'd really like is to add some of the conky information to my tint2. big_smile

Too bad you can't set a moving wallpaper, otherwise the matrix code would totally finish it off tongue

Re: November 2010 Screenshot thread

Well actually in one wm I will not name, you can run a terminal window with no borders fullscreen with cmatrix in it, so that it always stays on bottom and all key combinations in it's window are assigned to Nop and right click on it is bind to "root window menu"

I actually just tried that out, but it's driving me nuts. I'll go for a static background lol

Still Ubuntu 10.04 + LXDE with pretty much the base setup. Another custom mod of the Onyx theme, as well. If only I could get the mouse pointer theme changed...

Vic, thats a pretty setup you got there.  I like how your xdefaults compliment your legos.

Re: November 2010 Screenshot thread

You can set xmatrix to be your root window... I've done it a few times -- even GLMatrix.

You can.

It is described in archwiki openbox article. You just extract the theme archive to yor ~/.icons and edit your ~/.Xdefaults.

Re: November 2010 Screenshot thread

^ Lots of threads on this in the CrunchBang talk and Statler development areas.  Reader's Digest version is Squeeze is frozen right now and expected to go Stable sometime within the next month or so.  (Merry Christmas?)  Corenominal has most likely been on Sabbatical because he wants to let the Squeeze dust settle before working on a beta or final release of Statler.
