Don't use the aptosid sources, they are for sid so you'll probably bork your system getting the dependencies - ceni has 4-5 dependencies.

If you can figure out the dependencies, you can build from that git page.

No problem. And I'll be looking for you when I'm there next 8o  - need to get my salt water license renewed first.

How is the shark situation there these days?

#9 Re: Help & Support (Other) » [SOLVED] Conky: Composite cpu and cpu0 reflect the same value » 2015-09-17 19:48:05

Conky 1.9 starts counting CPU with cpu1, cpu0 is the composite value - conky objects

I don't think that has changed with conky 1.10; try your config with cpu1 - cpu4,

Change this:

[Network]
DHCP=ipv4

to:

[Network]
DHCP=yes

and see if that works.

I've had to do that in the past for debian systems.

if you are using NetworkManager the command may be:

/etc/init.d/network-manager restart

Do you want something like this?

If any of those commands or scripts work for you- or you have written your own- , you can use them in your .conkyrc.

#16 Re: Help & Support (Other) » [SOLVED] Conky and incorrect RAM usage » 2015-08-30 20:35:48

I think you can.

I also changed

no_buffers = true,

to

no_buffers = false,

and the conky 1.10 RAM usage matched up with "free -m".

I don't know if this is a bug in conky 1.10 or the developers just changed the way they calculated RAM usage; either way, looks like a conky 1.10 issue.

#17 Re: Help & Support (Other) » [SOLVED] Conky and incorrect RAM usage » 2015-08-30 18:43:47

@nili - thanks

@rebornmechanics - I duplicated the issue on another computer running conky 1.10.

Oh, and sorry if this was the wrong board to post in, but I honestly couldn't tell if this was an issue with conky or my setup when I posted this.

No problem; when I did a search for your particular issue, it appears to be common that conky output for RAM is typically different from other system  monitoring tools - but reporting higher RAM usage is a new one. So it will not surprise me if this is a conky 1.10 bug.

#19 Re: Help & Support (Other) » [SOLVED] Conky and incorrect RAM usage » 2015-08-29 21:29:33

@nili - what version of conky are you using?

@rebornmechanics - you say you've been using that laptop installation for 3 years, but have a conky 1.10 configuration file. Did you just upgrade to conky 1.10? What version of conky is installed on your other machines?

I ask because I just added $mem to my conky 1.10 configuration and it is reporting around 50 MB higher than htop (also on a laptop).

I can see where this may be a conky 1.10 bug.

Can a moderator move this thread to the shiny new Conky 1.10 thread; I think that would be the better place for it.

Thanks. Should have pointed out that I had FreeBSD installed on an HP laptop that also has a reputation for heat issues.

#21 Re: Artwork & Screenshots » August 2015 Screenshot Thread » 2015-08-29 13:41:46

@head_on_a_stick - some nice FreeBSD shots you have going. What sort of CPU temps are you getting? I had 10.2 up and running for a while but it was just idling too hot (mid 50's C).

@pingu - the path of least resistance - glad you figured it out. I thought you might be trying to do something a bit different.

#23 Re: Artwork & Screenshots » August 2015 Screenshot Thread » 2015-08-28 17:21:57

@ostrolk - start with the links to her photos, blog, dArt page that are in her signature - a lot of her photos are awesome.

@pingu - you can have a look at i3 layout saving if you want to create a grid etc .. with i3 (need i3 version 4.8 or greater, I believe). I've never attempted it.
