#1 Re: News & Announcements » The end. » 2015-02-06 13:50:20

A very sad day Corenominal, but I understand and respect your decision.

All the best for you and your family in the future, and hopefully we might bump into each other again at a future OggCamp.

All the best.

I've signed up for a years subscription.

My favourite distribution and my favourite magazine/podcast getting in bed together. Happy days.

It wouldn't be somewhere in the South Atlantic would it?

Yes it's Arromanches in Normandy France.

Well done Roetsj, your turn.

It's the observatory on La Palma. Went for a holiday there a couple of years ago.

Beautiful and stunning scenery.

I have FTTC at work and we use Zen Internet.

Not cheap but very reliable. Certainly recommend. Not sure about SSH restrictions though.

Run Janice, not rub Jessie.  I am all screwed up!  Jessie is the Debian name and Janice is the #! name... correct?

Good points on both sides.  I will rub Waldorf a few months, then try Jessie.

Presuming you meant 'run', this is my philosophy too.

If you actually did mean 'rub', I'm going to subtly distance myself from your post...

I haven't had chance to boot it yet and it does not say anything in the magazine.  From the screen shot it looks like Waldorf this time.

CrunchBang is on the April edition DVD of Linux Format magazine.

Had a HTC One X for nearly a year.

Really pleased with it.

Happy birthday Jim. I'm catching you up, 43 next week.

@james0610 Welcome. I'm local to you, Cannock. All the best.

Dan Lynch says it first thing on every episode of Linux Outlaws, so that's good enough for me.

@Chris

Thanks, I realise this, but he hasn't got room in his bedroom for a desktop and he likes moving around the house with it!

#22 Re: Off Topic / General Chat » Intel HD 4000 v nVidia 610M Graphics » 2012-12-12 14:31:39

Hmmmm, his laptop is only 3 years old. Perhaps there's another error, not just the graphics!

Thanks el_koraco.

Right, I forgot to mention he's using Steam and wants to play games like Lego Batman 2. That's one he can't play on his current laptop.

I'm not sure what he might play in the future but he understands he'd be struggling with high end games on a laptop with that budget.

Hi everyone, windows only question I'm afraid. If anyone can offer advice I'd really appreciate it.

Santa is doing some research for a present for my son. A new laptop with a budget of under £500.

He's recently started getting into games and his old laptop struggles a little and he's thinking of upgrading.

I thought a separate graphics chip would give better performance for him but looking on-line it looks as if the latest HD 4000 chip gives as good a performance as a low end nVidia.

This laptop seemed a good buy  Lenovo IdeaPad Z380 (only a 13" screen), but I'm now having second thoughts.

All help appreciated.

All the best.

Craig
