Got it: qemu is causing that error. Booting from USB into Live, i got a correct qwerty-english-keymap. dpkg-reconfigure also works.
Starting installation, choosing german, deutsch, berlin also works fine.

So, sorry for confusing, only thing left: why is there an error inside qemu? (when installing from debian mini.iso and ubuntu-server.iso, keymap is set correct inside qemu)
Okay, nobody is interested in this and priority will be between /dev/zero and /dev/null ... wink

Regardes and thanks for help

We need more information. Is the layout changeable in the live session? Does running sudo setupcon fix it? Does installing console-data fix it? Does manually editing /etc/defaults/keyboard fix it?

Hi,
quoting myself... a little bit megalomania  ]:D

In Livemode, my keymap is a mixture of english and german. I have : on correct key, but i get no german Ö.
Normally, when english qwerty-keymap is loaded on a qwertz-keyboard, i have to type shift+ö to get :.

Confusing to describe, i will check LiveCD by "burning" on a stick and will reply this (central-europe-)evening.

Keymap change: i tried some variants... but meanwhile, i believe it is an error caused by qemu sad
I will do a restart right now, attached USB-stick and will see what happens smile

I did it.

Select a language - German - Deutsch

Set location - Deutschland

Set Keymap - Deutsch

Totally, i selected 3x german/Germany as i did it hundred times before while installating Debian without graphical installer wink

And i got a total wrong keymap. It is wether qwertz nor qwerty.

I think it is a bug inside iso (wrong locales?!) (not sure, i am just a user) smile

Hi,

installed 64bitversion some min ago inside qemu-host. Everything works fine, nice job  {)

Only thing that does not work: selecting german language inside of installation -> and i am not able to type
slash /
nor
colon :
after choosing german language.

Qemu fault? (not sure, ubuntu-server and pure debian are working fine in my qemu-host)
User fault?  sad
Package fault?

So long

I couldn't sleep last night, cause i was thinking about "successor, fork...." and i found a page called google.de (attention: sarcasm) wink
Okay, topics are quiet a bit old (february) google hit #3
or 2 months ago hit #6

So, when looking at all other hits that google shows, a get conclusion that BL is the official successor of #!
Mea culpa, i didn't read all topics here in that forum and because of this, i did not read that all *members* of BL are talking about "we are a fork of #! and not the official successor" ....

But, back to the roots of reason why i posted my first post: i still believe that BL-members are "talking too much about" and i still believe that you (sorry, this is a word-by-word translation) "talk this project to death" (Try to describe it in a better way: you are discussing "HOW to feed a baby in a perfect way" till baby famished instead of feeding it).
To ensure: i know, all you are doing is "free time", "not paid" and "voluntary"... and i really know that there should be a minimum of "perfection" before an official iso/release will be available.

I think there should be a good mixture of "perfection" and "right dated" ( i think i have to go back in school and learn vocabulary again roll )

And... also my posts are "free time" of mine and i just want to show my "sight of view" cause i really like(d) #! and i want to see that BL will survice next years as an evolution of #!

Hope that all guys here understand and that noone is huffy .... it is just a discussion and i do not want to dishonor someone  smile

Regards

Hi Hoas,

BunsenLabs is *not* the "official" successor of CrunchBang.

it isn't? In my view, it is, cause corenominal gave some guys "allowness" to success #! (or is it a mistake?) (for sure, opensource could be changed/edited by everyone without exolicit allowness) so for me, BL is official . smile

@corenomial effectively stopped any development of *official* successors when he requested that the "CrunchBang" name not be used.

Yes, but you (new team of BunsenLabs) is allowed to use all other stuff of #!; it is same car with same motor with same wheels and same sound .... just sticker has changed wink

As an active member of the CrunchBang forums community I wish #!++ (and all other #!-inspired distributions) every success and do not consider it (them) to be competing with BunsenLabs.

I wish all good luck to all good people, but i like this forum here and i want this forum/BunsenLabs to be one of the most exciting distributions and to fullfill this aim, i should do some advertising (everyone does and i believe that this is okay).

BunsenLabs is being developed because the forum community *wants* it -- the relative popularity, or even the existence of, other distributions that look and feel very similar is utterly irrelevant (IMO).

Irrelevant... sounds like StarTrek/Borg, We / You should have a look at others WHY they have success and (maybe) copy the reasons of success. MercedesBenz is not best car-manufactor in the world; they have just best advertisement :-D

But, i like agreements... have a look again at my page  {) ... i called it "further development of active #!-Forum-members"

Hi KrunchTime

all i can do is to kick someones ass to get his/her job done  O:)
I think there are more than enough people who can do that. wink

But you need a special technique; otherwise, your foot will stuck .... ]:D
(sorry, if someone feels attacked, i have a real special sense of humor)

Also, don't forget that many, or maybe all, of the individuals working on BL are doing it in their free time.  They're not getting paid to do it, so kicking them in the rear would be counter productive.

For sure, i know that fact and i do not forget all the guys that enabled my simple computer-life with gnu/linux !

Just wanted to say that, imho,  #!++ is passing BunsenLabs because they just "started".

Hope, that something will think about this wink

#10 Re: Ideas & Suggestions » BunsenLabs Website? » 2015-06-18 22:01:23

Hi there smile

i am using #! since some years on computers of my father, at work as "youtube-player" :8 and i set it up as "try it you'll like it" - system on some old computers of my friends.

to cut a long story short:
a) set up homepage and do not forward to crunchbang.org (offer it as an option, but forwarding means that BL is equal to CB!)
b) give a short intro why there is something called BL and why there is no more CB (2 sentences)
c) a small "how to" (as shown on https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-netinstall) and where you get the parts ( https://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/  ++ https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-netinstall)

I want to help cause i like bl; it is doing its job on my old laptop as #! did it in the past; but i am not sure what to do: i am no programmer, whether html, java nor c++ or something else; all i can do is to kick someones ass to get his/her job done  O:)

Ps: hope that everyone understands my suggestions: i am petrified that bl will be "talked to dead" on how things should be instead of "doing"  8.(

Regardes,

Yes, i know that, something to do with "...do not compromise debian sources..." ]:D
(Imo, every system is compromised when first user hits the keyboard when typing his super-secret-passwort)

but many of us wanted it included,

me too cool

so this method is a compromise ATM.

Okay, that is no problem (for me)

FYI I have raised the deb version problem as an issue on BunsenLabs github.

Thanks; I just wanted to suggest that calling "apt-get update && apt-get -y install deb-multimedia-keyring" is less work for "bl-welcome"-script then updating bl-welcome-script every time new version of deb-multimedia-keyring is released.

Good morning (in central europe) smile

http://www.deb-multimedia.org/pool/main/d/deb-multimedia-keyring/deb-multimedia-keyring_2015.6_all.deb

Imho, it would be easier to change script by adding
1st) deb-multimedia as source in sources.list (or in sources.list.d)
2nd) do an "apt-get update" and
3rd) install it by requesting "apt-get -y install deb-multimedia-keyring"
instead of "wget whatever.too.old.date.deb" and installing by "dpkg -i whatever.correct.date.deb", because there is no need for updating script with new packagenames in future ?!

(just a thought to decrease problems in future, hope everyone knows what i want to be changed)

Hi,

today, i installed bunsenlabs(-script) from github on my fresh&naked i386-Debian 8 and there is still an error regarding deb-multimedia -> something about "keyring not installable".
I re-ran cb bl-welcome script without any further problems, accepted unknown repository and now, everything works fine smile

Ps: i am really happy to see that someone is working on bunsenlabs {) , i was shocked to see that #! "died" sad
