#2 Re: WM/DE Talk » Golem Window Manager » 2014-11-16 19:49:13

OK, no problem. Apologies, accepted.  smile

#3 Re: WM/DE Talk » Golem Window Manager » 2014-11-16 18:53:15

Ok. Irony, hostility, flame spirit. And all that, because I introduced a Window Manager in a discussion forum named WM/DE Talk.

#5 Re: WM/DE Talk » Golem Window Manager » 2014-11-16 05:44:10

It's in the BSD repos. It's not dead. And the Enlightenment example is the better. Tell me, all these minimalistic, almost ...no-X window (ha,ha) managers, are better developed?  smile

#7 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-15 10:22:39

Ha,ha, nice! But it is corrected already. wink
Nothing starts! I must always press Alt+F8 for fbpanel, Alt+F10 for nitrogen and Alt+F7 for conky...
This is the script:

#!/bin/bash

# script to "autostart" oroborus

xbindkeys &
conky &
fbpanel &
nitrogen --restore &
exec oroborus

Really, in your Oroborus session, starts anything?  smile

#8 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-14 08:38:32

Well, with the new script, I tried to make nitrogen to launch (for the wallpaper).
Before commented the lines for conky and fbpanel, I had nothing of them. Just xbindkeys (of course  tongue ) and oroborus! I make various tests, as you understand.
Now, I'll try to change the script like this:

#!/bin/bash

# script to "autostart" oroborus

xbindkeys &
conky &
nitrogen --restore&
fbpanel &

exec oroborus

and see what will happen.  smile

#9 Re: WM/DE Talk » 30 Window Managers in 30 days » 2014-11-11 19:26:40

I've noticed that nobody mentioned a nice minimalist window manager: Golem. Neither in the LinuxBBQ CD exists, I wonder why...

#11 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-09 06:24:56

#!/bin/bash

# script to "autostart" oroborus

(sleep 2s && xbindkeys) &
(sleep 2s && conky) &
(sleep 2s && fbpanel) &

exec oroborus

#12 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-08 20:34:11

Sorry, I don't follow... You mean, to start oroborus directly after the boot? If you mean this, no, I like to have alternatives.
If you mean, my start-script, then, what do you propose? Please, tell me.  smile

#14 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-08 19:33:15

pcmanfm --set-wallpaper=/home/rpil/images/wallpapers/crunchbang-school.jpeg

#16 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-08 07:32:35

@Sector11, thanks! smile

@PackRat
Look in post #8, I presented my /.oroborusrc and I see no other "alt" key combination. Basically, is "Mod1" and "Mod4" (really, what keys are Mod1 and Mod4? They have something to do with the "Windows" key, isn't?). I'll try the "Mod1" option, but first I'll add lxpanel to the script.  smile

#20 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-06 15:09:44

Well, I got some (good) news!
I added in /etc/slim.conf the oroborus session and I logged in!
Now, the problem is the final configuration. I worked with lxpanel and dmenu, I opened thunar, Iceweasel, but I couldn't set a wallpaper with pcmanfm  sad and I don't know who to install the oroborus theme choser and make it work. Also, how make the panel permanent, without the need to press the keyboard in every action.
Any help in this?

#22 Re: WM/DE Talk » Using Oroborus » 2014-11-05 06:55:06

I have LinuxBBQ cd and I tried that you told me. Unfortunately, no oroborus configuration exists! Neither in /home hidden files, neither in other folder!
Anyone who uses -or used- oroborus, to tell me the config procedure, please?  hmm

Hello, my friends. I'm new in Crunchbang!, but old in Linux. Basically, I'm a Gentoo user and I like to make new or reconstruct old themes for E17.
I have installed Crunchbang! in my laptop and I find it beautiful.
I'm interested to Oroborus window manager, I've downloaded it. along with the two other relative packages from synaptic (fspanel and deskmenu), but I don't know how to make it work!
I've read the Oroborus testing from this topic, but I miss something. It's the first time that I'm trying to work with such a minimalistic wm. Until today, I worked with Gnome, KDE, MATE, Fluxbox, E17, and a little of Openbox, XFCE and E16.
Please, help me activate a Oroborus session, I'll appreciate. (I'm interested only for Oroborus  for the moment).
Thanks!  smile
