Is the joke that he had to pay (Apple rates, at that) for the iNAG service, and I get it all for free?!!

DeBanged. (includes a Debian link)

Someone already suggested the following, but for different reasons:

x! = xBang (x = ex = 'of/out of' or even 'extended')

Copper, you realise it *is* a DE? The file manager is just part of it. smile

<command>amixer set Master toggle</command>

For the former, try looking in the BIOS. It might be listed under 'Integrated Peripherals' or similar.

EDIT: Sorry, I misread the question. Ignore! smile

#7 Re: Off Topic / General Chat » Is Crunchbang Impervious To Malware? » 2014-07-25 15:52:07

adware, dialers, keyloggers, ransomware, rootkits, spyware, worms, trojans, etc.

If it's true that you have "acquired" all of these, then you really should review your computing habits. Nothing will protect you smile

#10 Re: Off Topic / General Chat » Batch rename files with different endings...? » 2014-04-08 15:09:24

if you use Thunar, just highlight all the files to want to rename, right click   > 'Rename' then choose 'Numbering' from the drop-down menu.

I don't know the command line way to do this.

EDIT: ^ beaten to it! smile

#11 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » No driver for Canon MP260 series » 2014-02-21 14:39:39

I'm not at my PC at the moment but it's something like:

1. Right-click on the downloaded file -> Extract here.
2. Go into the unpacked folder, open/install the ...common...file with gdebi. (Right click -> Open with gdebi)
3. Do the same with the other file. (I can't recall the name)
4. You'll probably need to install CUPS/gutenprint/foomatic. I've never worked out which is needed so I tend to install thm all. Also install the system-config-printer package.

#12 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » (Need help for) Printer drivers installation » 2014-01-31 14:27:45

For my Canon Pixma MP560, I had to use the linux drivers as provided by Canon. (Canon is the manufacturer...or mfg as hinto calls it). I'd recommend using the driver from the official Canon website.

Download the drivers.

Right click - unpack here.

If there's a -common file, install that first.

You'll also need to install cups and its dependencies as well as system-config-printer (all in the repos).

Use system-config-printer to set up your printer.

If it doesn't show up, you'll need to install some more cups stuff...gutenprint and foomatic. It's a case of trial and error.

I realise I'm being vague but I'm not at my PC at the moment.

Lemme know if you need further help.

#13 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » Enable FN- & Media Keys » 2014-01-24 18:22:11

Thanks for your reply, anlem, but that post didn't help.

Anyone else?

I've looked into the configs of hotkeys, toshset and fnfx to no avail. I must be missing something, but what?

(As I said, it worked out-of-the-box when Crunchbang was based on Ubuntu.)

#14 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » [SOLVED] Change the color of the title bar » 2014-01-24 15:25:40

Try "Themes" in ObConf.

The titlebar is part of the Openbox theme, not the gtk theme.

Hi, guys.

When i first started using Crunchbang, it was based on Ubuntu. The FN-keys, the media keys and the touchpad on/off button on my laptop (a Toshiba Satellite) all worked out of the box.

With the move to Debian, they now don't work at all.

I have looked into it, trying various things mentioned online, but to no avail. It's not bothered me too much as my main PC is a desktop but recently I've not had access to it, meaning I'm using my laptop more now.

It's doing my head in...can anyone help?

For full minimalism, copy the button images from any of the Mire theme files into your openbox-3 folder. (/usr/share/themes/Mire_v2_grey/) Or any others of your choosing.

I'll try to get a screenshot up at some point.

To use:
(For newbs)

Open file manager.
Enable 'Show Hidden Files'(ctrl-H in Thunar)
Open or create ".themes" folder.
Create a folder within the .themes folder. Call it what you want. In this example, we'll use "NewTheme".
Open "NewTheme".
Create another folder. Call it "openbox-3".
Open "openbox-3".
Create a document. Call it "themerc".
Copy the above code into this document.
Save it.
Open Obconf
Look for "NewTheme".
Click it.

For the button icons:
File Manager>usr>share>themes>Mire_v2_grey>openbox-3.
Highlight and copy the icons there.
Paste into openbox-3 folder within NewTheme.
Open Obconf.
Select another theme then "NewTheme" again.

Hopefully, the new buttons will appear.

EDIT: corrected error. Thanks, Ak.

#19 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » [SOLVED] Deleting files » 2013-09-18 23:06:17

Not sure what the specific problem may be but you could try to delete them with <Shift>+<Delete> (or <Shift>+Delete in the right-click dropdown). This bypasses the wastebasket so may not need to create the file.

WARNING: (assuming it works) this deletes the files irevo...irrevvo...irevokib...   ...for good.  smile

If I recall correctly, you need to disable hardware acceleration. Right click on the video - Settings - untick box.

(Don't quote me,'s been a while since I had to do it.)

Can you not simply right-click on your text file > Open With Other Application and then click the "Use as Default" button, after choosing Gvim?
