Now installed on my lap-top (circa 2007)    and for an Alpha 1 it's A-1!
Loving it very much indeed! smile

Seems pretty unanimous! I have no preference as long as it does what it should.   Terminator? Okay.

What is the latest release like?

It's a shame they've migrated back to Ubuntu or I would try it myself sad

Sorry for such a late reply, WattOS - both editions - very light and super stable. The Ubu 14.04 base is pretty sturdy for everyday use. That's why i'm still running Ubu MATE 14.04 on my main machine smile

@0:22, is "Linux Help Guy" pronouncing Mate wrong? hmm  If not, I've been pronouncing it wrong the whole time...thought it was named after the South American infusion.  If he is pronouncing it wrong, I think that merits an ad hominem bias against the rest of the video.

Hehe! Don't get him started about pronunciation! He has an entire video dedicated to why the whole world should mis-pronounce many established linux-related words. I won't put a link here, but it's pretty recent on his YouTube timeline. smile

I too made a video trying out CB++. I uploaded it and Linux Help Guy commented on it and a couple of hours later he uploaded his own video. Was he prompted to make his video by watching mine? If he was, he didn't read the video notes where i clearly state that CB++ is 'an independent continuation of the Crunchbang legacy.' rather than a community effort.

h0ayEoz.jpg

My video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWALti_3nVc            ...it's an everyday user's look at CB++ so don't expect tech critique ...not everyone is at that level of expertise (or indeed wish to be!), some folk just want to see what it looks like, how light it is, and what you get OOTB.

I'm sure that both of us will do a similar video looking at BunsenLabs when it is released. I'm also sure that whilst there is nothing wrong with CB++ coming into existence, we would both agree that the real successor to Crunchbang will be the community maintained one smile

One downside of all this is getting re-listed on Distrowatch ...and probably sitting in the waiting list for years sad
...but, that said, i think Softpedia seems a little more 'vital' than DW these days.

Yes. Corenominal should clearify this for the community.

I'm not sure that I need to clarify, but here goes ...

Ben has set-up a website promoting #!++. That is cool and good luck to him. The community here has decided to start BunsenLabs. That is cool and good luck to them. As far as I know, everybody is free to contribute and use either of the projects, which is also cool. Happy days.

Big thanks! smile

You should edit your About Page. Your project IS NOT the continuation of CrunchBang. This community and whatever projects this community starts, is the continuation of CrunchBang. And when we honour the wish for a clean break by changing the name to Bunsen, Wally or whatever, it is highly problematic having an external project pretending to be the new CrunchBang, and using the name CrunchBang ++ ... Surely you understand this?

Not sure how you could have misinterpreted my post, but i was just quoting from the cb++ page.

It's not my page, it's not my respin; I made it pretty clear at the end of my post that i felt bad just using cb++ while Corenominal's opinion was unknown and wiped it from my drive. I'm 100% up for a community spin.

^ Agreed.  The original Sex Pistols cover was part of a rant against the British Royal Family; your use of the image in this context makes it look like you're ranting against Philip.

I wonder what Corenominal meant by 'Oh my'?  CN's Twitter post of the controversial image

The original cover was a calculated marketing move by the Sex Pistols management (Glitterbest?) to move more units, nothing more. They wanted as many images of the Queen (in tightly rolled bundles) in their pockets as they could possibly get!

It was more about money and fame than any real call-to-arms 'Anarchy'. The image itself has, much like that of the Kings Road mohawk 'punks' become something of an icon of London and Englishness, more 'Seaside postcard naughty' than outright offensive.

Well, i haven't posted on here in a long time but i can't let today go by without taking some time to thank 'The Boss' for #!.

Philip: Cheers for #!, it's the first GNU/Linux distro that i fell in love with, the first one that was really stable and ran well and ran consistently well through updates and my own mis-handling. #! was (is) a rock-solid, forgiving OS that never got in my way, and although i'm not using it any more, it is the yard-stick that i use to judge other distros with.

So, again, 'Thank you' for giving me a distro that demonstrated how well linux can work, and i wish you all the very best in your future endeavours.

TA!   big_smile

may I ask why do you prefer not using systemd?

I switched to it and I barely notice any difference

I just tried a couple of the new Siduction releases live (both natch with Systemd) noticed no difference at all. That said, i don't profess to know anything at all regarding the different ways the two processes affect the running of a system (or even if they DO in live mode), but i have read in a few places that most users will notice no difference at all after the Debian switch-over.

Why is there so much dislike for Systemd?
