Thank you pvsage,

No, I did not yet install the iso on my usb. But from your post, and after some trying myself, I discovered that, indeed, it is not possible.

Thanks for the remastersys recommendation. I will post the solution if I find it.

Hello all,

I have a simple question. Since I want #! live on my usb, with very limited modification i.e. only:
- custom background
- custom tint2

Can I just mount the live iso, change those settings and remake the iso?

Thank you all for your answser(s).

Hello,

When I reboot my laptop, I need to manually run

ifconfig eth0 up
dhclient eth0

or my wired connection doesn't work. Wireless is fine.

I wonder what, probably very simple, setting I changed to cause this change in functionality sad

As I use the laptop mostly for server purposes, it's important for me that I get my connection back when I want to remotely reboot.

Thank you for any suggestions!

Hey bleach,

thunar-volman is installed. By the way, the thunar mounting worked before, so I don't think it's due to lack of an application. Thanks for your help though.

Hello,

Since I had some problems with Slim hanging up after a while, even after a new install of #!, I decided do tremove Slim.
It's no hassle to use startx, but now I wonder about possible caveats. For example, I'm not authorized to mount any of my other partitions in Thunar anymore.

I wonder how I can solve this/what other inconveniences using startx might cause. Anyone has some more knowledge (or link to info) about the differences between starting X by startx, or by slim?

I start startx as user, not as root. Maybe slim was configured as sudoer, and thus could start X with the necessary privileges? Or is it more complicated?

Thank you very much!

Thanks Pidsley! The chroot worked, I reinstalled slim and everything is fine again!

Super thanks!

Wonder what caused this problem btw, I experienced the same some months ago, and decided to reinstall #! (had messed up my install in some other uninteresting ways anyway).

Hello fellow #!bangers,

When I boot my laptop, it goes to the login screen (requesting my username), but my pc seems to be frozen. Whatever I enter on my keyboard, nothing happens. No blinking cursor in the input field either. ALT-F2 or other terminal doesn't work either. It's strange, because this problem gradually appeared. At first, it happened sporadically, every 3 or 4 reboots, but now I just can't login anymore. Every reboot ends with a frozen login screen.

I run Waldorf, stable, fully updated (until 2 weeks ago anyway), with plenty of space left on its partition.

I can access the partition from another OS, so maybe someone can tell me how to manually disable the login screen from appearing (slim?), to see if that's the problem, and if I can thus enter #! again I'll reinstall a login manager and hope that'll solve the issue.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you Xaos, your link to the bug info solved it!

This bug was discussed on our mailing list [1]. The problem was that vlc
was configured to use the alsa output plugin. The solution is to install
vlc-plugin-pulse and to use the Pulseaudio output plugin (Tools ->
Preferences -> Audio -> Output module: Pulseaudio audio output).

#9 Re: Help & Support (Testing/Unstable) » [SOLVED] php5-mysql install problem » 2012-11-12 15:50:06

I managed to solve it smile I don't know how anymore, but repeatedly removing it, installing it and generally just messing around and now everything works fine.

I'm sorry I can't give more info, but I have been doing totally random things that I really don't know anymore what solved it..

Thank you both, but no, I'm sorry my problem remains.

My explanation was not that very clear.

When I resumed a paused video, the sound for that video doesn't come back on. But for the rest of my system my sound remains (I can open another vlc video, and sound will work just fine).

I can get the sound to work again by fast forwarding the movie a little.

It probably is a vlc issue

Hello,

I installed the LAMP stack from cb-welcome, but after messing with mysql and basically breaking it, I decided to reinstall the whole LAMP anew from scratch. So I removed everything, and ran cb-welcome again.

But now there seems to be a problem when I want to install phpmyadmin:

Setting up php5-mysql (5.4.4-9) ...
Not replacing deleted config file /etc/php5/mods-available/mysqli.ini
ERROR: /etc/php5/mods-available/mysqli.ini does not exist

Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Btw I run #! Waldorf

Hello,

When I watch a movie with VLC, whenever I resume a paused video the sound is muted. I tried with other players, and there the problem doesn't appear. I tried switching between ALSA and Pulseaudio, and it was the same.

What's weird though is that I have another waldorf install on my usb, installed with the same pc, and on there this problem doesn't appear..

Hello all,

I installed Waldorf 2 weeks ago, after having used Statler for longer than a year now (and very happy about it).

But my experience so far is very different than with Statler, mainly because evertyhing feels very sluggish now: Waldorf appears to be much slower than Statler. for example:

The browser scroll bar lags behind when I drag it (tested it on different browsers).
I can only watch video with every other application closed, or it will lag
when I resume a paused video, sound doesn't work anymore

But in general, responsivity is really bad. Whenever I launch a program, I have to wait several seconds, and if I open moren than 1 application the whole system starts to slow down.

Does anyone else have the same issue? Thanks very much for any answer..

I prefer not installing Statler again, since, even though I had a perfect user experience with it, I'm happy to be able to use more recent packages again.

Trying to mount them in Thunar tells me that I need to have authorization to mount them but fails to give me the opportunity to do so.

Same problem here. Partitions on my hard drive are listed, but I am not authorized to access them (and nowhere I can give my password).

External disks works flawlessly though.

Are you using WINE to run it Xardas? I haven't played that game in ages, either. Much better than AoE3.

Well yes, but since I only have wine version 1.1.42, the performance could be much better.. So I installed it on my windows partition. That's a shame though, I really hoped to get it working fluently on #!..

I will try and see if I can get wine 1.2 to install, on winehq it says AoE works better then.

You can use lm_sensors for direct reading of your CPU temperature.

Install lm_sensors, then

sudo sensors-detect

Just press yes any time it asks you for confirmation.

Now when you type

sensors

, normally you'll get detailed information on your CPU temp (current temperature vs critical temperature etc.. all in °C)
