Linux; awesome: sudo shutdown -h now

I usually use "shutdown -hP now". My netbook sometimes refuses to poweroff after halting.

Re: Very Short Study of Crunchbang [CLOSED]

Why do you use both flags, what happens if you just use the -P flag?

Re: Very Short Study of Crunchbang [CLOSED]

Type "shutdown" with no arguments:

-H and -P flags can only be used along with -h flag.

Err, means... nothing happens :-)

Re: Very Short Study of Crunchbang [CLOSED]

The man page didn't mention that about the -P flag. Thanks for clarifying.

I never think to check MAN pages unless I'm running a CLI distro or installing Arch. I feel like the motto should be:

"MAN, you must've f#!ked up somewhere." XD

Re: Very Short Study of Crunchbang [CLOSED]

I use super+x and select shutdown, or run sudo shutdown -P nw from a terminal. But mostly, I just press the power button shortly and the computer shuts down properly.
