completely missing software sources for Crunchbang lite 8.10.02?

Hi there,

I'm using this keen lite 8.10.02 version on my really old laptop. I cannot reach ANY server for updates or repositories. I copied the Failure-Notices below the text. What cahnges do I have to make to gain further support in future?

All support for 8.10 ended in April 2010. The release is obsolete, the repositories are gone, and there will be no more updates.

The current #! release is Statler 10 Alpha 2: http://crunchbanglinux.org/downloads/statler/alpha-02/

ok - but never change a running system.

I'm using the 8.10 on an old Laptop with lowest ressources like Ram 192mib. The old 8.10.02 release works very fast - an newer version e.g. lubunu 10.10. will not run as i tested it. Therfore,

Is there any possibility to install some aktual programs like thunderbird, ooowriter, ooocaclulator, ppp-viewer, vlc?

maybe download the stuff, burn it on cd/or store it and add this manually to my software-sources?

It might work with CrunchBang, it might not... Personally I always do a fresh reinstall when there is a new release (and recommend you do the same) so I cannot help or assist you with this in any meaningful way, sorry.

SOLVED:cool:

the upgrade was successsful. It worked
1) after a fresh install of the old system 8.10.02
2) following the EOLUpgrade instructions
4) for #! the it was important to KEEP the sourcelist instead of changing it as the help page recommended.
