Beginning of a beautiful adventure with #!

Good day everybody,

Just wanted to say hello. Started using Crunchbang yesterday after about a year and a half of using mostly Ubuntu spin-offs (predominantly Mint) and random distro hopping from time to time in order to try something different.

I've heard a lot of good things about #! (thanks to Red Devil and his blog) and was thinking about giving it a go, but it was just recently that I became really tired of all the unnecessary bloat of main distros - my needs are pretty simple, I mostly surf net, watch films and play my music plus communicate with ppl, no professional stuff done on my laptop, no need for super power either, but my machine is getting old and I wanted something slim and customizable.

Initially I started off with Zenwalk Gnome, then tried Zenwalk Openbox - I love the style of this distro, but as an intermediate user with not a lot of experience with linux I found them full of little things that made my life difficult (maybe they are just too far off Ubuntu).

Crunchbang, however, is a nice surprise. Yes, I had a few random stumbles, but thanks to the forum I managed to find the answer to all my problems and I have it the way I want it now (more or less) soft-wise. On to eye-candy now:)

Had my eye on Gutterslob's designs - they are truly awsome, I have to say!

What's next? I may try startler - good opportunity to hone my linux knowledge while dealing with the im[erfections of Alpha realise. That would be my first time playing with unfinished system (however good it might be at that stage)

Anyways, thanks again and I hope #! is gonna be my distro for good from now on.

I've just run the live cd in virtualbox and I do have to say I really like the style and apps selection - minimal but pretty much ideal for my needs, plus even in virtual machine(256 ram/64 video ram)/live cd mode it's quite fast. I think I'm gonna run to the shop to buy some blank cds/ burn it and have it installed on my test partition;)
