[SOLVED] Can't extract tar.gz containing symlinks

I tried to extract a release build of Slicer ( found here), but i can't because of symbolic links in the tar file.

My command looks like:

tar -xvvzf Slicer3-3.4.2-2010-01-07-linux-x86.tar.gz

Any medicine for this illness?

Can you extract it using File-Roller?

Also you're not extracting it to a FAT32 or NTFS partition right?
