Use the same /home from Ubuntu with Crunchbang.

Hi,
I was using #! with Ubuntu Jaunty side by side for some time now. I think now is the time to upgrade #! to my primary (Friends I introduced are already got #! as primary hmm ).

So I plan to use my existing home partition as it is with #!. It won't be much of a hassle but I'm asking just to be on safe side. And also once I install #! preserving my /home, there will be some garbage that ubuntu put but #! won't be interested in. Is there any scripts clean up such a mess (if there is a mess).

And also I'd like to know if I can install Openoffice and Gimp from an ubuntu CD (I'm too b/w sensitive sad ). And also if there is a Gimp replacement that would only support the basic image stuff, I'd like to know.

So guys please help me in the transition.

Well I usually when I'm going to use the existing /home I delete all the hidden folders to avoid having configs from previous installs, I only keep my files.

I guess that you could, but I usually install things via terminal.

If on your ubuntu-cd there are deb-archives, those can be installed the eas way via "gdebi".  If not included in #1 by default, install "gdebi-gtk" via Synaptic first.

For a Gimp-Replacement i have settled for the "mirage" imageviewer, which sports thumbnails from folders and for the very basic stuff  crop, resize and saturation.
Since i don't like mtpaint so much, for the more sophisticated stuff, i sometimes use "PhotoFiltre Free", with runs fine under wine. Easier to handle for me than gimp, though i'm still waiting for Gimp 2.8.
