I've been getting a lot of segfaults recently. Not in software that I've written, in existing programs. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. A short list of some programs that have recently experienced segfaults: xorg, chromium, conky, apt-get, matlab, skype. One will happen about once a day, but that's not consistent. Until yesterday I went several days with no segfaults.
I booted to a live CD and ran memtest86. It showed no errors. I let it run several times and no errors at all. I can't think of anything I've changed recently that could cause this to happen.
I'm not really sure what else to do next in terms of troubleshooting. Research suggests that the most common cause of this sort of issue is a hardware problem, but with memtest saying everything's good, I'm not sure where to be looking for the problem.
I can post more information on request, at the moment I'm not sure what to include because I don't know what info would be useful.
