hi there , all new to crunchbang coming from ubuntustudio-debian-lmde , this minimal set up is quite strange..i hope u will bear with me here! :)
anyway i installed ardour but when i try to open it i just get an error ! qjack and audacity is working fine though.

No it won't, since you haven't provided any info!
What the error message is might be a good place to start, and how you are trying to start the application

If you can't read any error message, try to launch ardour from a terminal (Super/Win + T, type ardour, hit enter). The stdout there can help.

^ that, and also:
check synaptics packet manager's history, what dependencies did ardour pull in?
i'm pretty sure it needs jackaudio to run, and i'm also pretty sure that pulseaudio and jack cannot co-exist without manual intervention.
you might want to consider uninstalling ardour and everything it pulled in, uninstalling pulseaudio (see our very own wonderful megathread on that) and reinstalling ardour again.

aha ! i made it open now .. and all is working as it should for reasons beyond me .... ;)but thanx for yr time anyways!
