Using Nautilus as a desktop manager

Hello all,
first let me say that I think that #! is great distro, I really like the simplicity and the easy customization, this is a really fine distro.

The thing is I'm really missing desktop Icons, and I don't like using wbar apps like that, I want a real desktop manager like nautilus...
I've searched the forum and I came across some threads but I couldn't find one that can help me..

I want that Nautilus will manage my desktop, but also that Nitrogen, Conky and the openbox dropbox will also continue to work...
I just want to see the destop Icons and use the Nautilus file browser as deafult, are there any simple way to do this?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my weak english..

Re: Using Nautilus as a desktop manager

Just remember that if you have Nautilus take over your desktop, you will no longer be able to right-click and get the Openbox menu.

You will still be able to open it using Windows key + Spacebar though.

Re: Using Nautilus as a desktop manager

This may be of help. http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … r-openbox/

You could use try this and then use pcmanfm to control the desktop, which will give you icons and retain the openbox menus. I believe the setting is in the Desktop tab of pcmanfm's preferences.

Re: Using Nautilus as a desktop manager

you can also run Nautilus using by hitting Alt-F2 and entering the following command:

nautilus --no-desktop

and it won't take over your desktop
