Ongoing Printer Problems with HP LJ 1320

Hey there,
I really love #! but I am troubled with ongoing printer problems. Using a HP LJ 1320, this printer stops working from time to time. Example: I tried to print a picture which I took with my mobile phone. The printer prints error-codes on paper first. When converting the jpg into a pdf, nothing works any more. Now, the printer doesn't respond any more.

What happened? I used LMDE first and all was fine.

Thanks!

Re: Ongoing Printer Problems with HP LJ 1320

Hi,
so, I found a solution - although I still dont' know the reason why the problem appeared.

I installed the newest hplip using the installer provided by hp. Although it does not support Debian 7.6, everything works now.

But: I would like to understand what caused the problem.
Errorcode. 5012: printer communication error

Probably the software/dependencies just needed updating?

Re: Ongoing Printer Problems with HP LJ 1320

Nope, it did not work.
I decided to remove the hplip-stuff and to tried using the drivers, that are provided with cups. So now, the HP CUPS+Gutenprint works very well - no problems at all.
Perhaps, this can be reproduced with oder HP printers that are not or not fully supported by hplip. It works also with my HP LJ 1005 series ...
