Peculiar Wireless Problem

So, I was at my dad's house today (using Crunchbang) and the wireless worked fine. But as I turned on my Eee (900HA), at my mother's house, it would detect my router, and try to connect to it.  It's protected, and enter in my WEP and it tries to connect. After about 90 seconds, it pops up the security window again, asking me to enter in the code.

I've tried this multiple times, and it has worked on Ubuntu and OpenSUSE. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Oh, and the router I'm trying to connect to is an AT&T 2WIRE router/modem.

Connect using a cable and replace network-manager-gnome with wicd.

Make sure that the dropdown box above where you type in the password says passphrase too (just try the dropdown box, if there are multiple options try the one that looks similar to passphrase) I know I had issues with that previously because it kept defaulting to the key which is in hex, not the passphrase I had set for it.

edit: I'm pretty sure it's passphrase but not totally positive since I'm at work, it'll be something similar though

I installed wicd, and when I try to connect, it will show the connection progress bar going back-and-forth for about a second, then it closes out and I'm not connected. Won't work with passphrase either.

I read this thread because your problem is similar to mine. Unfortunately, I see you didn't get a satisfactory answer! For some, the switch to WICD just doesn't work because WICD seems to have a few bugs hanging off it. It also doesn't answer the question of USB  broadband the way NetworkManger does.

I have Crunchbang and Ubuntu9.04 dual booting on the same laptop. This morning, I can boot to Ubuntu and the wireless hooks up as usual. When I re-boot Crunchbang it doesn't connect to wireless anymore. Even after entering the WEP passphrase it doesn't work. WTF Just out of the blue!

Wireless is essential to me and probably the most important requirement of any OS. I travel a lot and need wireless and the ability to connect via usb broadband when on the road.

Has there been other experiences with this problem in Crunchbang?

I went into NM via a right click and re-entered everything the way I thought it should be and then I did the same when the  NM 'Dropdown Window' appeared I entered the same info. This time it connected properly!

Why It failed in the first place is beyond me and also why previous attempts to sort it this way didn't seem to work. I must have missed something in the earlier process
