I recently installed #! on my old EEE PC, and it has really made a noticeable difference in performance; i also happen to be the owner of a Synology NAS, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to access it outside of using the web interface. Help would be greatly appreciated..
(For the sake of covering all bases for future references could whomever decides to respond to this just assume that i am a complete moron that can't turn on a PC without exhaustive instructions and/or physical help?)

can you setup an NFS share on it? that could probably do the trick.

thanks for that.. didn't need it in the end cause i figured out that i could use Gigolo and Windows Share.. seems to do the trick.. but thank you kindly regardless.. .. in hindsight i feel kinda stupid for missing stuff on Synology's own website

It's all good! if you have more linux computers though, it might be worth looking at.

I don't think that'll be necessary unless i end up messing around with it for fun, although i might change my mind if i get around to building a SteamOS box.
I'm currently only running Crunchbang on my laptop because it is unfit for anything that uses even close to the resources that Win7 does, and i also figured out how to run Linux Mint on an external harddrive, which i found fantastic because i can boot it up at work and fire up Nexuis or PPSSPP during downtime
I don't foresee myself switching to Linux on my desktop PC anytime soon though.

That actually isn't a bad idea, as from personal experience, NFS integrates better with my Linux systems than Samba ever did.

I did, best decision I ever made ( imo ofc lol )

This is the first real go i've had at Linux ever, and my old man has been fixing Windows PCs since the 80's so it doesn't really make sense for me to swap out every Windows machine i've got.. i am not even close to comfortable with Linux and have to look up damn near everything about everything to do anything so i honestly think it'd be shooting myself in the foot a bit when i've got an expert so close to home.
Regardless.. whenever i get the cash on hand for a secondary desktop with a decent nVidia card i will be setting up a Steam box just to have a look at it, and to see if there is any sort of performance boost.
