Resolution is blury

The resolution is really blurry for me. And I get multicolored lines at startup. I'm using an AMD card. An XFX Radeon HD 7750 that is.
What do I do?

Maybe your monitor isn't recognized correctly. Try to install fglrx-driver from debian backports if you haven't already.

but first you could try starting arandr (settings -> display settings) and see what you got (or issueing xrandr in a terminal).
do you have highest resolution possible?

fwiw, i also get colored lines every time my gui starts up, but it works otherwise.

@kraith: are you using monitor, or you have a laptop display?

If you have monitor, a faulty cable might be the reason.

TFTs of any description (laptop or desktop) always look horrible at anything other than their native resolution, check that's what you're set at. You might have to google your screen model to determine the native resolution if you don't know it offhand.. then check you're set to that.

No. I don't have a laptop. It's not a faulty cable. I know my native resolution. 1600x900. Yet on windows it's alot prettier.

unless you provide some useful information, how can any of us help you?
"provide useful information" means much more than just saying: "i have this-and that-piece of hardware".
it also means: i have tried this, and the results were that.
i have tried to search the web for my problem, but i only found those results, and they don't seem to apply to my problem, because so-and-so.
nobody on this forum is interested in taking your hand and making a step-by-step walkthrough with you to find a solution.
but, more importantly: it is not possible, because our only means of communication with your computer is YOU, and if you don't communicate...

@kraith: you can try the 'Auto adjust' (or something similar) function on your monitor to automatically adjust your picture.

OTOH, you can install smxi ... it will suggest the best video driver for your graphics card. But be prepared to CLI and to read a lot of text smile

This. Also, make sure you have a bright desktop (e.g. "transparent--i.e-solid-colour.png" with the background color set to #AAAAAA or brighter) so the monitor has a good, sharp contrast between the desktop and the behind-the-black area.
