Hello there fellow Crunchbangers

Hi , my name is Lend and well im a pre noob @ CB because i still havent chose to install it , and i need everyones opinion if crunchbang is for me

Im a developer and i use :LampServer(With phpmyadmin) Netbeans , Eclipse , Android Studio , Brackets , Sublime Text, and ofc surfing the web , music , movies (common stuff)

I am trying to move away from xubuntu because it is kinda buggy for me , regarding CB i want to know if my hardware is supported and/or is it going to run more smoothly than Xubuntu
As i looked at the forums i found out that CB has a great community with a great support from everyone , and i hope i will have a great time with everyone

So is CB for me ?

Re: Hello there fellow Crunchbangers

Hiya lend11 & welcome to the #! forum smile
If you want to know if your hardware is supported, best to try the live version; in my experience it runs faster than xubuntu with about half the memory usage...

Re: Hello there fellow Crunchbangers

You can, but when I tried it, it caused a few issues for me when installing. It's better to use the method described here:

Sorry about that. I accidentally posted my password in IRC and I had the same password set here so they changed my signature.

If you want to discuss this deeper, someone might be able to tell you if the "bugginess" is xubuntu specific.
might save you some disappointment later on.

Re: Hello there fellow Crunchbangers

The "buggy" behaviour you have noted with xubuntu may be because of your windows installation --- if it is windows8 it uses a hybrid shutdown/hibernate method to ensure a faster reboot. This can cause problems when dual-booting with another OS (I had lots of error messages from xubuntu when dual-booted with windows8) see here for details on how to disable this feature wink
