[SOLVED] Epson TX121 Terrible Print Quality

Hi guys!

I just installed my Epson TX121 Printer/Scanner. I used the following packages downloaded from here and here:
epson-inkjet-printer-n10-nx127_1.0.1-1lsb3.2_i386.deb
iscan-data_1.24.0-2_all.deb
iscan_2.29.2-1~usb0.1.ltdl7_i386.deb

Scanning works great, but printing is horrid. Colours are way off.
This is what it looks like in writer.
Original

This is what the printed copy looks like.
Printed

*Also, not sure if useful but it's printing 2-3 times faster than it does in windows.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Eew!

Stating the obvious here, but your prints are clearly missing the black ink.  First thing I'd do is clean the print heads & print a test page, then replace the black cartridge if it still isn't printing black.  (Basically, rule out hardware trouble first.)

It's possible that you're printing in "draft" mode, which would explain why it's printing faster than with Windows.  Shouldn't cause black to fail though; should print with all four colors, just at reduced resolution.

Updates:

Fix it! Yes, turns out that I just had to clean a print heads. Doh... Thanks pvsage!

By the way, I've been using escputil to check ink levels. I tried mtink too, but it doesn't recognise my printer. Are there other better ways?
