I am a teacher in IT aera.
Trying to have people have added value of IT.
Now I am following the Drupal-project.
As one has to choose.
O.K., also a bit of Moodle. As a bit of decent electronics, helps when learning.
In short: E-learning.
Today I organise a day of sharing knowledge.
Plus I am improving my French.
Some french students will be able to share knowledge, live!, at "Drupal@Lille": lille.drupalgardens.com (on November, 15th, 2013 in Lille France)
I register here today, because:
About 2010 somebody showed me CrunchBang Linux: #!
My son made me a bootable USB-key, to install #! on my tiny, nice, early generation ASUS eeePC.
So used #! a bit, over a few years.
(But no time to understand BIOS, bootable USB-keys & other handy technical stuff. Because of jobs, marriage of 25 years, new marriage. And above all the construction of a sun heated house. My sun heated house project on los.drupalgardens.com)
Earlier back in 1983 I dived in manuals of my boss his IBM-PC and Apple II.
In 1984 I bought an Apple Macintosh.
I like it to switch a computer on, and start communicating with others.
(On the jobs I used lots of Windows. Windows needs some more clicks. Kind of ennoying).
(Good move was to give my e-mail-address to a french woman: my present wife. She e-mail-ed me!)
For reason of having less trouble, I guess, I always had a faint interest in linux-es.
But more important: I would like to get my stuff, well-organised, on the internet.
In order people could use it.
I came across the open source project Drupal.
Open source: I like.
Sure after years of bringing my requests to IT-people, not always be assured, they where really interested helping me.
So after some Macs.
I installed #! on my little ASUS eeePC.
Today I register ...
... because I try to use an old Lenova Thinkpad X61s, which was given to me.
Ubuntu, as Xubuntu, I get installed from USB.
But every time I start this X61s-computer:
very briefly it shows a ThinkPad-start up screen
directly followed by a black screen, and the X61s rests silent
In a more technical way I think that:
"the booting process does not get passed the BIOS ... ".
I stress: I think ...
So now I dive into the forum of #! trying to get this Lenova Thinkpad X61s running on a light, stable operating system: maybe #! can make my computer running again
Thanks everybody who made #!
