Game "Braid" won't run

Hi everyone,

I bought Braid for Linux as part of a Humble Bundle a while ago and installed it under Xubuntu 12.04. It ran fine, but I never actually got around to playing the game. Now I thought I'd install it again in Crunchbang Waldorf on the same laptop (Thinkpad Edge with ATI graphics card). The installation went without any problems, but whenever I try to run the executable, the screen goes briefly blank, some black and grey stripes appear, and then I'm back in my terminal with the message "Segmentation fault". This happens both with Braid installed from the 32-bit deb-package (installation to /opt) and the .run.bin file which by default installs to the user's home directory. The only helpful hint I found by searching the internet is a blog post of someone running Braid in Debian Wheezy (Link), but his solution didn't solve the problem for me.
Has anyone else managed to play Braid under Crunchbang? Or do you have suggestions what else I could try to make it work?

Thanks in advance,
Alefa
