Thank you #! for this experience.

Hi all!

Tried other linux distros on more than a few occasions but some things never felt right so as usual returned to Windows 7. Installed CrunchBang yesterday on my laptop and also installed Google Chrome and Skype.

So far, it's great! Has nothing I don't want.

I do have a few questions for all you beautiful people in here:

1. Running dual monitors and for some reason my display settings don't save. Have to adjust my settings every time boot.
2. Looking for a light image editor for basic tasks because I don't want to open Gimp just to re-size an image.
3. Looking for a good SIP softphone that uses the G729 and or G711 codec.

Answers and ideas to any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Re: Thank you #! for this experience.

Welcome aboard joeal.

There is 'Image Magic' that can resize images, amongst other things; part of the suite can be run from the command line.

Thanks fatmac, I will try that out. Would you happen to know why my display settings don't save?

Welcome to the Crunchbang family joeal.  It's a pleasure to have you with us.  You can save your monitor settings by appending whatever xrandr settings you need to your autostart file.

This thread may fill in some gaps.

Re: Thank you #! for this experience.

Thanks again! You guys are great.

And by the way, I found a good voip sip phone that works with Varphonex / Inphonex. Linphone worked straight away for me.

I also added blueman-applet, fotoxx, skype and Libre Office. Using it for the past few days now and haven't once missed Windows.
