Hello from a grateful new user

Hi,

I'm very glad to have discovered #! and this community. Although not a total linux noob, I've only really done server admin and scripting. For my desktops/laptops I was shackled to Windows due to proprietary software required for my work (self-emplyed safety engineer). Recently I've become more serious about developing my own, platform-independent, interpretations of said software.

In the past I dabbled with several distros but was never happy. Apart from configuration woes, there was often bloat and visual ugliness. Crunchbang is the first distro that has me totally satisfied. Almost everything works straight away, I'm free to build-up rather than having to strip-down, and the interface and general presentation are very appealing. It's a keeper!

Windows is now consigned to a 'boot only when absolutely required' partition. Crunchbang takes-over the heavy-lifting from here. I feel very comfortable after only a couple of days. Everything is fast and tidy. Configuration is a doddle.

Thank you to all involved. I hope I can provide some positive input. I maintain a blog of my scripting adventures here.

Hello, grateful new user wink . That sounds like a familiar story. Anyway, enjoy the distro. Have been with it now for 9 months and it's going strong.
