CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf" Released

Debian 7 "Wheezy" was released on May 4th. Congratulations and thank you to all involved; the Debian developers, hackers, testers, document writers, designers, bug reporters and users -- you are all awesome.

Now that Wheezy has migrated to the stable branch of Debian, this means that Waldorf is the new stable #! release. To acknowledge this occasion, I have rebuilt the Waldorf images. The new images are available now from the download page.

For anyone unaware, #! Waldorf has been in development for well over a year and has seen numerous development releases (20120430, 20120806, 20120924, 20120927, 20121015, 20130119). This probably makes Waldorf the most thoroughly tested #! release to date and as a result, I believe it is also the best #! release, ever, truly.

A massive thank you goes out to everybody who has helped with Waldorf, it really would not have been possible without your continued feedback, bug reports, contributions and support.

Note; for anyone who is already running Waldorf, there is no need to download and install these images.

Re: CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf" Released

I echo all of what corenominal just said.

I would aslo add a big thank you to Mr Philip Newborough for sharing #! with the rest of us. It is without doubt, the best out of the box distro I have ever used.

Re: CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf" Released

I agree with what many have said in various places in this forum:  I have used many distros over the years and this is definitely one of the absolute best.  Thank you so much for all of your hard work.

Re: CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf" Released

Aloha dear brothers and sisters

Grantz with the release. And I need to ask a "stupid" question now - just to be sure I understood right... I had the last unstable Waldorf - if I have that installed - I do not need to install the stable, am I right? *Hey I know, I am slow in some of the more normal subjects/stuff "normal" people take for granted, sorry*
Just making sure I am correct in the understanding...

And if I am correct - should I then make an sudo apt-get update, to update it to the new stable version?

Infinite thanks! smile

This will be enough, yes. No need to reinstall, this "stable" thing just means everything is deemed worthy for use in servers that reboot once in two or three years.

Thanks to @corenominal and to all the "broad shoulders" at Debian development. Yet another "rock solid" outcome from people who just get it!!

cheers,

Re: CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf" Released

Seeding all three. Uploading at a pretty constant 4MB/s! So much demand for CrunchBang. Also seeing a shift away from 32-bit non-pae to 32-bit pae and 64-bit.

Re: CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf" Released

@corenominal and all seeders:  You Rock.  Woo-hoo!

Although corenominal explicitly stated there's no need for the new image if you already have Waldorf installed, I'm downloading and seeding all images nonetheless, to help with distributing the seed load and to have something, in the unlikely event of a needed reinstall, that won't require several hundred megabytes of updates on first dist-upgrade.
