Hi folks! This is jossemarGT with 5y of distro jumping and this is the first time that got registred into a community distro forum.
Excuse me if I'm going to fast, I'm still learning the forum culture, or something
To make the story short, the first time that I tried the power of GNU Linux was with Ubuntu 8.04, but I really wanted something more bleeding edge, then I adopted GNU Arch Linux, we made an awesome couple for 3y, until, every one in the Arch community jumped to the systemd and I just broke so bad my distro, so, as any college student I've got a lot of things to do, so I's in a hurry to have everything up and running that's why I changed to LMDE, don't look at me in that way, hey! is easier to accomplish a 5 minutes install rather than install and configure everything in the Arch way.
Everything was alright, until the GPU of my laptop died and screw up my workstation
however, I (somehow) stole my little brother's desktop and said lets find something easy to configure and liteweitgh, that's how I made it to crunchbang.
So, that's my story... And with purely Debian environment let's say that... It was to much for that oldie desktop (other one, don't worry about the my little brother's desktop)...
PD: Yes, I have a poor grammar and I have to apologize for that in advance.

Welcome jossemar, glad you found #! worthy of signing up to the forum. Like you, I don't sign up to forums that often, and when I do most of the time do not post.

Welcome to The Friendliest Corner of the Internets! We have lots of users here with older hardware like yours that, were it not for resource-thrifty distros like CrunchBang (I refuse to call it "lightweight", because it is, in fact, full-featured - it just doesn't have a whole lotta resource-hungry cruft) would have been relegated to the tech dumps years ago.

lurk moar
...is something that you'll never run across here.
Feel free to post if you run across any problems, no matter how noobish they may seem.

Welcome to the Crunchbang forums. I came across the distro recently in the search to revive some older hardware with a fully functional OS, and have been highly impressed with it. Everyone here has been super friendly and very helpful. The community is really great, and has certainly eased the transition for a guy who was very "stuck in his ways."
It's good to have you.

Eeyup, pride is something that I wrongly learn from others local communities, but, whatever we'll never end with our ignorant nature, so thanks for the friendly advice.
