I'm running #!9.04 on my acer aspire one with the default kernel.
I've also followed the posts in the wiki on fan control to install and load acerhdf at boot. Initially all worked as intended with the fan staying off until the netbook got reasonably warm.
I've recently done an update and since then the fan appears to be running all the time regardless of the temperature. At present its 42 degC and is supposed to switch off below 60 but is running continuously. I've repeated the installation steps successfully but the end result is the same.
However if I type 'sudo acerfand' at the command prompt or execute /etc/rc.local this then turns the fan off.
I think was is happening is that rc.local is executing acerfand as the fan does go quiet during the boot up process but switches on again at the log in screen. Something is disabling acerfand maybe?
Any ideas what is going wrong with the boot up process or which log files I should be looking at?
By way of an update - I've done a fresh install and the same problem is still there.
