Geany shuts down when i double click to select text

hi guys

Geany shuts down when i double click to select text for example: i clicked to edit conky.rc from menu, then geany pops up and after i double click to slect text i shuts down or "ctrl+A" = its again shuts down...

looking for a help

Try using Sublime Text 2 or gedit for a simpler text editor.

You shouldn't have to change editors as it's a bug and not an "unneeded feature" you're experiencing.

I'd try opening Geany in terminal and seeing if it spits out an error when you double-click.  Also, check /var/log/messages for any hints on what's happening.

Have you tried schwim's solution? Better give it a test. I think it is indeed a bug and there's no wrong with trying it out. You can always ask anyway.

But if you still insist. Here's how http://crunchbanglinux.orgtry/pastebin/1912. And after installing type in the terminal sublime_text to start with it.

To completely replace geany, edit menu.xml or go to the GUI Menu Editor and change all the commands with geany to sublime_text. Don't forget to save what you have changed and restart Openbox. Pressing W-e will still open geany as your default editor unless you replace the command to sublime_text under the keybind key W-e. It can be found on the rc.xml. Then you may now

sudo apt-get remove geany
sudo apt-get autoremove

Try to get more clue w/ geany.  Open up a terminal and type "geany".  Hopefully you see error messages when
it bombs.

that error comes up on the terminal...

btw eclipse shuts down as the same way on a diffrent waldorf-computer when i click somewhere....

Geee.. I hope it's not a serious thing, because I use Geany alot, in fact I only use geany .  Things like these are worrying.. Because while back well few months in fact, I had #! and it didn't run so well with my old lappy.. Got a new one now so yeah I hope it works this time.  (I work with Panda3d)
