Hello,
not so long ago installed i3wm just to try it out and I like it.
I'm still learning use to it and but from time to time I go back to Openbox 'cause I am more familiar with it.
So, how can I configure the i3bar to display conky without messing the conky config I use on Openbox?

No, you have to reconfigure the conkyrc -

you can place your .conky rc for i3 anywhere and just put in the proper path. I place my i3 conkyrc in the .i3 directory, then call appropriately
status_command conky -c /home/you/.i3/.conkyrcgrill it | the rocky path may just be the best path

@dkeg
I just saw your post in the i3 thread where you use color in the .conkyrc for showing desktops. I did not know you could have a colored conky in i3. Could you please post your ~/.i3/config and full .conkyrc with a screenshot in the i3 thread. Thanks.

sure PackRat. Couple things first though. The conkyrc with the workspaces will only work if used as a conky independent of the status bar. Reading the post again, should've been more clear. That is the conkyrc I use in openbox. You can have color in the status bar for the conkyrc, but just one color. I'll still post the stuff over there though.
EDIT: @PackRat, I got colors in conky working in the status bar. I'll post up in a bit
