As you can see, the taskbar icons are colored and very square.

I'd like to change them to something monochrome and more interestingly-shaped.
How do I do this please?

Hey bennet! In the openbox menu, go to settings > User interface settings. Select the "icon theme" to change your icons. You'll need to log out and log back in for the changes to take effect in your systray.

Thanks. What type of icons are compatible? Can I use any from gnome-look or do they have to be from box-look. The latter is VERY short of suitable icon sets, it has to be said.

You should be able to use whatever icons you like from gnome-look. Just read and follow any instructions you find.

Ok I installed the theme but not all icons have changed - some have, some haven't. The reason is that not all apps are playing ball and taking their icons from the same source.
I have already posted my issues on this matter to the following thread:-
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic. … 29#p281929
Maybe the two threads should now be merged?
