wandering linux user looking for new home

hello #! community!

I must say this community and distro has done nothing but impress me since my arrival.
A bit about how I got here:

About 6 years ago, right before I went to college, I found myself getting pretty comfortable on my computer box and simultaneously found myself learning osX. I had only truly run windows and lightly dabbled with ubuntu before that time. Long story short my mother would not let me take the mac with me to college and my school gave every student an ibm thinkpad with windows XP on it. I was not thrilled about this so i rolled up my sleeves and dove into ubuntu. It served me will for about a year until I declared myself an art major and was issued a macbook. The plus side was that I had a better computer, the downside was that I had lost my linux machine.

After a couple years I found myself wanting to get back to linux, I had tried virtual machines and some cheap laptops but could never really get to where I needed to go. I finally started questing out other distros with the ultimate goal of loading linux on a flashdrive so that I could carry around my OS. This gave me about 2 years of trouble with zero luck. I had played around with mint, bodhi, ubuntu, kubuntu, and arch on live disks but never ran them proper.

A few months ago I decided to dive back into the linux world after getting some netbooks and small laptops which I wanted to use as business computers, good for taking to meetings and such (at this point I am graduated and am the co-owner of a photo video start up). I got bodhi running on a mini sony vaio... i mean it works but it's not fantastic. upon the suggestion of a forum on What.CD I was told to check out crunchbang. So I did. I threw the iso on a disc tossed it into one of my side laptops and went to install it... I had not realized that the laptop i threw it on had no hard drive (my day job is at a recycle center so i end up with a lot of laptops in various conditions) however the installer prompted me to install to a pendrive In which I had tried to use to install arch linux. So, after two years of trying to get a linux distro on a pen drive I accidentally succeeded!

So hear I am with a lightweight hp pavilion dm3 an 8gb flashdrive and #! and I couldn't be happier. #! is super fast, gorgeous, intuitive, customizable, and most importantly cooperative.

I'm looking to get my linux skills back up to snuff, have a little fun, engage in a good community, and would like to learn a bit of coding.

I think I've finally found my linux home.
