Hi all,
A strange problem here that I can't make sense of. My desktop is currently using a dongle to connect to the network. (Cables are not an option at the moment) I've dual booted with Windows 8 and #!. On Windows 8 I am able to see, and connect to my network. On #! I can see everyones' network apart from my own.
I've tried connecting through adding a hidden network, but no luck.
For what it's worth I am currently writing this to you on my laptop, also running #! and connected to my network.
Does anyone have any suggestions I could try? I found another similar thread but following the help there didn't aid me,
Thanks in advance

UPDATE: I tested the dongle (D-link DWA-140) on the #! laptop today, and that too doesn't pick up my network (It finds a few others but not nearly as much as as my laptops internal network card does)
So that kind of concludes that it is the dongle at fault, but it's still something I'd like to try and get fixed as it works fine on windows 8 and my dads windows XP laptop. I'm now going to try and search for solutions regarding getting the dongle up and running under linux.

I changed the wireless network mode to "802.11b Only" and now my desktop with the dongle can find it - it just doesn't want to connect (despite entering the correct password)
Output from lsusb is as follows (For the dongle)
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 07d1:3c09 D-Link System DWA-140 RangeBooser N Adapter(Rev.B1) [Ralink RT2870]Offline
Update: I finally managed to get it sorted
In case anyone else is wondering/in my situation, I used to this to help - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1333255
Basically I blacklisted rt2800 usb, restarted, and now it is no longer rejecting my password
I don't know why that works, or what the problem was in the first place - but I got internet now and that's all I care about
Thanks xaos52 for your assistance.
Take care
