[Solved] Problems with wifi conection

Hi people, I just have installed #! in my netbook. So, I have one problem including my wifi connection, I can't connect. When I type the comand "iwconfig" the answer is "no wireless extensions". It's my first experience with a distro linux, and i don't have experience.

The netbook is Samsung N150 Plus.

Hope you guys can help. Thank's!

Re: [Solved] Problems with wifi conection

We need info on the wireless card. Open a terminal, run

lspci -knn

and post the result here.

Re: [Solved] Problems with wifi conection

Welcome to Linux, and to #! wlinton

There are a number of very knowledgeable people on the forum who will be able to help with your wifi issue (I am not one of them) but it will help if you provide some additional information.  First, you are posting in the help section for the "stable" release, but just to be sure, please open your terminal and run the command - uname -a.  Copy the resulting output and paste it into code blocks (there's a "code" link at the top of the post entry field just paste the output there and click "OK").  This will let folks know for sure which Linux kernel you are using.

Next, in your terminal, enter the command - lspci -nn - and paste that output into a code block as well.  This will let people know exactly which wifi chipsets are detected by the system.

I took a quick look for specifications for the Samsung N150 Plus, and it appears that your machine may have either an Atheros AR9285, a Realtek 8192E or a Broadcom 4313 wireless chipset.  I'm going to assume that you don't have the Atheros chipset, because that has long been supported "out of the box."  So you are probably dealing with either the Realtek or Broadcom wifi chipsets.  Regardless, people with good knowledge of wireless will need that information to really be of help.

Keep in mind that the #! community is literally all over the world, which means different timezones, which means it may be a little while before you get the help you need.  Also, since you are new to Linux, let me say that most of these issues are solvable - but it might take some work.  Just hang in there and I believe you'll get things working.

Cheers!
