Continuous typing

When I try and run crunchbang on my EEE pc it will have ^[[23~ appearing over and over in the start-up text. When I get to the login screen it will be unimaginably slow. Sometimes it will work but up until now I have not found any pattern as to when it works and when it doesn't.

I think Obadobo may be right- those characters are what seems to appear when bash is running a process and keys are pressed...
