Hello, all! I seem to be having an issue with my audio on crunchbang...that is to say, there is no audio at all. I'm a little bit stumped here, been having a go at it for about an hour with no luck so far.
Edit: I did see other threads, and did try them; however it iddn't work for me. ALso, I saw a post about suggesting a kernel update. I did that, and my computer wouldn't have that. It did not like that kernel, so it didn't boot up. This is a fresh install, also.

Try
alsamixerin a terminal window, unmute all channels and pump up the volume.

Thank you for your reply, xaos52.
However, I have tried that already.
Here is a screenshot of my alsamixer: All levels up, no M's indicating muted.

What's strange is I have audio from headphones, but not from my speakers.

Try specifying the model using this https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIn … ontext=180
First try
model=autoLast edited by xaos52 (2012-09-25 14:04:40)

Late response, sorry. Been busy. I added model=auto to the alsa.conf file, and still no sound. Now, when it says specify model...it shows Dell, HP, etc...Do I put the COMPUTER model? (Compaq, in my case.) Or the sound card model? Which is a Realtek card?
Edit:
I checked to see my .asoundrc file and to see what it has in it...well...theres nothing. Doesn't exist. Perhaps I need to make a file...? But I figure out how to make it with my current card.

Try upgrading your kernel to the last version in backports. See http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … ll-solved/ for instructions.
