openGL (?) problem with 2.6.27-8 eee-lean

i wanted to give Terragen a try under WINE, on me eee 901, but i have some graphics issues.
The (probably) rendered contents in the application window doesn't show up correctly. Just lot-o-lines.
openglproblem.th.jpg

At the same time, i get an error/fixme of wine:

fixme:xrender:X11DRV_AlphaBlend not a dibsection

Googleing it led me to endless topics of installing office from MS, but actually didn't got me further in finding the solution.
As the above link proves, it has a gold status on winehq - meaning no known bugs.

Makes me think that it must be the time to update the driver of my INTEL 945GME...
But how is it done?
Anybody did it already, and willing to share knowledge?

What about this?
Is it possible to get this work under #!eee 8.10?
I'm really clueless about how updates/patches are made to the kernel...

Re: openGL (?) problem with 2.6.27-8 eee-lean

i got it to display correctly.

did an update as anonymous pointed me here
Thank You very much.

Be aware though...i had around 700 fps in glxgears before, now it's like 125...
But this may be some setup/option thingie (or not).

Till i want to run Quake, it's fine for me....:P

Arr.

Re: openGL (?) problem with 2.6.27-8 eee-lean

i found out that the default USER account created at install time DIDN'T had the 3d hardware acceleration on by default....
That led me to have slow rendering after updating the Xorg drivers for my 'intel'.

glxinfo | grep Open

returned:

OpenGL vendor string: Mesa Project
OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer

Like that, enabling the User Privilege for my default user to USE 3D acceleration did the trick..
glxgears is back to 770 fps.

glxinfo | grep Open

returns:

OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GME 20061102 x86/MMX/SSE2

I wonder though why this option is OFF BY DEFAULT?!

Anyway, as You can see, still have an old driver of Mesa DRI, dated 2006...
Now off to build the new package from here.

I never have done no kernel changes till now, so if anybody could give me a hint where to start with this particular update, it would be much appreciated!

edit:
doing so (enabling 3d acceleration for the user) killed again the preview windows in the APPLICATION under wine...switching to software rendering draws the windows.
I suppose i have no choice but switch to unsolved the topic again, and ask for some advice as stated above!
