[SOLVED] Setting up RaLink RT5370 Wireless Adapter with wicd?

HI all,

I am trying to setup a RaLink RT5370 Wireless Adapter however wicd isn't identifying(?) It; It is listed under lsusb as:

Bus 001 Device 008: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5370 Wireless Adapter

In wicd I first tried wlan0 and then ra0; Neither of these work.

I've tried following a guide: http://wiki.debian.org/rt2800usb however None of this helped.

Can someone give me a guide which I can follow? or How to make it work.

Thanks,
J93.

SOLVED:
I used the BPO version and It works straight away.

Please post output of

uname -r

And you followed the instructions on this page: http://wiki.debian.org/rt2870sta ?

Did you receive any errors at any of the steps?

OK, so you are using Squeeze.

No errors; it is still unlisted in iwconfig.

I've taken the easy(?) option and I am now installing the BPO(?) of Crunchbang;
The livecd detected it so it should work when I install it fully(At this very moment), Will report back in a couple of minutes.

That would have been my next suggestion, except I'd recommend you go right to Waldorf (the newest version).

I've tried that before I got this new wireless USB; I feel it's a little too unstable for me but for the period I used it; It was great with the hot corners.

I will try when it is a little more stable.

^ Wheezy is now in frozen state, so there won't be that much more to stabilize smile
