this particular HDD of mine isn't mounting anymore....but others are...and when i plug it and run the "lsusb" command it doesn't show up but if i run "tail -f /var/log/syslog" it would show that it is recognized....

Install just like marianne said and run it from the terminal with root privileges.

OK that's weird. According to packages.debian.org, disk-manager is in all the branches except sid, and where did you get that kernel? You posted in the stable forum, but you're not telling us everything...
Please post the output of this command:
cat /etc/apt/sources.listand please tell me when was the last time you did apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade?

oh am so sorry....i just got d iso image of BT5 RT2 so av never done "apt-get update" buh am already on it....thanks...wen i do i'll run d command again and copy its output here

That doesn't really help me understand what's going on -- I have no idea what "BT5 RT2" is. You're still not telling us everything.
(edit) Ixquick seems to indicate that BT5 RT2 is "Backtrack 5, RT2" -- I'm probably not going to be able to help you with that. There may be people here who can, but you might get better help in the Backtrack forum: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forums/forum.php
