help installing

Well after messing everything up by playing around with root permissions and moving my home folder into the file system and being able to do anything afterwards I reinstalled ubuntu 10.04 as dual boot to see if someone could help me on here to get it back to the right spot which they did.  Now I have a dual boot system and only want crunchbang .....so I decided to copy everything from my "home" folder including hidden files onto an external hd so that I can reinstall crunchbang as single and only os.   BUT upon installation it hangs on installing and keeps bringing me back to the menu and anything i select after the installation of clock brings me back into the menu again.  When I try to finish installing it says something which sorry guys i cant remember but basically not allowing me to install.  Please help me install this as ubuntu uses way to much of the little ram i have and is extremely slow.

Thanks

p.s. if i think of what it says i will edit my post so you know what the error message said too.

Re: help installing

I'd try formatting the HDD first with a third party tool (or even Windows) and then retry the install.
