Kruijf

You know me from the conky help topic, and now i'm thinking to install #! on my Laptop this weekend.
I think i'm getting Waldorf (testing) to install, i have just installed it in virtualbox.
Are here user whit #! using Gnome Shell as DE, and how did you installed it? just using synaptic?

This week i have the nightshift, so i dont have the time for a real install.
Great time to test first.
And maybe i stay whit the default DE.

Hello kruijf and welcome to #!

I have been using Gnome 3.2 with #! sid (which was #! Statler before) and have been testing Siduction plus Gnome 3.2 and must say that it is not recommendable. In comparison with other base systems (gentoo/slack/arch - they alreay offer a stable and working 3.4) on the same hardware it is quite buggy and only remotely usable if a bunch of Gnome Extensions are added. But that's just IMHO big_smile

Edit: I just used 'apt-cache search gnome' and only 'apt-get install' those packages I needed to get a working base system (gnome-shell ++)

I installed cairo dock in virtualbox but nothing to see there.

Re: Kruijf

Hello,

would you accept the unbranded version named "Icedove" (like Firefox -> Iceweasel) it should be found in the repos.

Machinebacon is right, Icedove is Thunderbird.

If memory serves me, and it fails a lot, Thunderbird stored it's mail and settings in ~/.mozilla-thunderbird. IF that is still the case and you have it, rename or copy it to: ~/.mozilla and Icedove will have all you're old mail and settings.

Conky: rename ~/.conkyrc to ~/.conkyrc_orig and your conky to ~/.conkyrc and you're done! This way you have a backup of the original if you want it.
