So I gave this a try since most other distros no longer load for me. #! loaded fine, ran fine, with the exception of not recognizing my nVidia GTX 550ti and the Realtek sound, then I was going to install it just to get off of Win7.
I look for the shortcut to install and it isn't there. So I realize it must be using the old Debian installer and did a Google search and sure enough I was right. I didn't want to go through the old style of installation, so I decided to reboot back into Win7 and what do ya know? Surprise!!! My boot manager is gone. Not a very nice surprise at all. I knew I should have just reinstalled #! 9!
So I took the few mins to get my boot loader back and am here posting about the issue.
Thanx #! for 10 R20120207, but no thanx! #! 9 was a lot better and had NO issues. I will either go back to 9 or stay on Win7. #! 10 is not for me.

Welcome to the forums and thanks for the feedback! Let us know if you need help with the Debian-style installer, it's actually not that hard (and all support for #! 9.04 ended a while ago).

The liveCd for Crunchbang 10 doesnt have the install option in the openbox menu. And the problems with your drivers have solutions in these forums.

Thanx for the welcome. I have no issues using the Debian installer. Used it before. Yes, I can easily install all the drivers. But as for wiping out my Win7 boot, that was unexpected, as I only ran live and never tried to install. But was an easy fix.

Thanx. I have used #! before and enjoyed it. But as snowpine said #! 9 is no longer supported and with 10 being the way it is. I doubt if I will be using it.

I made a similar decision, but I am still here for the cookies & beer! We have Debian users, Arch users, Ubuntu users, Fedora users, etc....

I would stay if there are any Fallout 3/New Vegas players and if the beer keeps flowing.

isn't this just a matter of doing 'sudo update-grub', to get grub to add your Windows-partition? or am i over-simplifying things?

^ rhowaldt, he says he never installed, but just ran live, so never installed grub and can't update-grub; Running live somehow borked his win7 installation (I'm not sure how this could happen).

Be eggsalad to each other.

^ thanks, missed that tiny detail
never heard about that one before... only thing i can think of happening here is he's using #! 10, the 'old' version, with Slim for a DM, in which case we have another occurrence of the 'slim ate my music' thingy..

I got the dl link from the home page. So unless that link points to an old image, then I got the new one. But who knows?
Edit:
ISO is labeled:
crunchbang-10-20120207-amd64

^ nope, that means you indeed got the new one, with GDM as a DM, instead of Slim. so, my hopeful guessing explanation is crushed.
fwiw, i'm still using the 'old' 'old' (that's twice old) February release, and it works great. however, with your computer doing the strange stuff it is doing, i would be hesitant to trust that too. also, i don't know where you can still download it

Well, I may have to just dl 9 and update it through other means.

9.04 was my favorite #! too.
There are plenty of archived forum threads from people who tried to upgrade it to 9.10 (now also end-of-life) and beyond.

There are also plenty of threads about doing a basic Debian netinstall and Crunchifying it...Testing or Sid optional.

Believe me, I will figure something out. I'm not a dev, so if I can get something done, it will only be for personal usage.
