Has anyone managed to get BBC iplayer to install in #!
I can stream content from the BBC site but would like to make use of the download facility.
I've got iplayer installed and downloading programs in Mint 7 but would like to be able to do the same on my netbook which is running 9.04 #!
There is mention in a post of possible problems caused by openbox??

The BBC web site now seems to indicate that it is possible to install iplayer from the site http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/install for some Linux versions. Has anyone managed to get this working with Crunchbang 10?

Your first post said you're on #! 9.04. Which is it, 9 or 10? 9 is based on the outdated and now unsupported Ubuntu Jaunty release, 10 (Statler) is based on Debian Squeeze. Back up your personal files and install #! 10.
I tried the link you provided via Iceweasel. It's a Flash link and it didn't work for me, I clicked it and a "loading" throbber spun round and round but eventually the Install button just reappeared but this time dead.
This looks easiest if you're on Statler...
http://packages.debian.org/stable/video/get-iplayer
If you have to stay on 9, I think this is the right link (either the 2.41 all.deb or the 2.66 all.deb)...

@hhh madwoollything's first post was in 2009.
I had the same non-function result on that bbc link btw.

Sorry for any confusion.
I was on #! 9 but moved more recently to #! 10. I was looking again at trying to install iplayer and found this old post, so thought I would use this as the starting point for my question.
I believe that 'get-iplayer' is no longer supported and is also command line based.
I'm ideally trying to find a solution with some form of GUI so other family members (non technical) can use my netbook and watch BBC programs which have been downloaded.
The link from the BBC site looked promising but does not appear to do anything.
