I just installed crunchbang (backports) into my desktop machine, since I have tested it on both of my laptops and they have worked fine.
The problem I am facing is that my gfx card is not working, showing me this as a view

How can I fix this or should I just move to another distro?
I haven't done anything on the computer, only installed it through the text install.
Edit:
I can't use the keyboard, it freezes on that.

How did you install Nvidia?

I just read that your keyboard freezes as well..
I would say that you boot up from your live cd again and do a live session to see how #! works on your box.

I'm thinking that you should grab the 32bit version and then try a live session and see if that fixes the problem.

Perhaps one of the #! prophets will chime in with some knowledge on this issue..
I honestly do not know what would cause this other then a faulty install.

I used the 32-bit version BPO, I could try the normal version. But I am not sure about faulty installation, since the same installer worked on my laptops and I am currently using my laptop to write this

You could always try a another fresh install and see it changes anything.?.
I really wish that I could be of more help.

What you could do is do a debian net install and install packages one by one and figure out what the culprit is. That would allow you to get the nvidia driver installed before you start X. When you're satisfied, you can add the #! repos to your install and get all the default crunchbang goodies.

Sorry that I haven't posted anything here, been busy with work. I tried falldowns suggestion and re-installed, this time using the normal version (not the backports) and it worked out of the box. Don't know if it was a corrupted ISO file of the backports or something in it, that didn't like my GFX card.
Now everything works
