+1. Just like @mynis with Arch, no issues with Sid here. smile I think for some people Arch is the way, for some others Sid if we talk about rolling distros. For me some people just over dramatize using Debian Sid.

Issues I have/had with sid when upgrading from stable in the past:

constantly tries to uninstall my proprietary drivers and warez when I'm upgrading

massive 4+ Gb memory leaks, not tracable to any certain process

loss of sudo privilages

the old lxappearance segfault thing that went on for months before it was fixed

mempodipper exploit took forever to get patched out

I still have that same debian sid install dormant on my system. One thing that worked without a hitch in debian that I had issues with in arch and other distros was taking online tests in my CCNA class (which is ironic because it uses their proprietary packet tracer software). Overall, I've learned it's useful to have more than one distro laying around. I'm thinking of formatting my laptop when this semester is over and installing debian sid with a compiz-standalone setup. It's quite plausible that a lot of the issues I was having were due to upgrading #! to sid instead of just doing a fresh netinstall.

Correct. But you are right, lxappearance was broken a long time, though never used it.

I got wireless problems under Wheezy and Sid, interestingly, the same problem under Gentoo too. I think there's a kernel problem or some firmware but I don't know which one. I decided to fall back Squeeze, I delete Gentoo part, now just using #! with bpo. I didn't find a solution to this, searched everywhere and find nothing to my atheros, ath5k.

It work 1 or 2 days, than it failed to work, failed to scan. After 2 days it's working again and than gone too. May be my wireless slowly dying but working flawlessly under Squeeze. There's no error in the logs. I think it's time to renew my laptop. lol

Arch kind of replaced Gentoo in this regard.

BTW I use slackware, which feels really alot faster than all these other distros and taught me so much of what's going on "under the hood" and inner workings about Linux. It is also alot "cleaner" and so logical in it's setup.
