[solved] Synapse (launcher) not respecting default browser settings

Nor launchy, regardless of what /etc/alternatives/gnome-www-browser and /etc/alternatives/x-www-browser are set to.

I've done all the checks through ~/.local/share/applications/ and ~/.gconf mime and defaults files, and manually set exo-preferred-applications, to no avail.

Any ideas where the setting may lie? Interestingly, when google-chrome (Google .deb package) is installed, chrome lauches when bookmarks are launched from synapse. When chrome is removed, iceweasel launches. So a setting somewhere is being set.

Runnng openbox #! 2012, upgraded to sid.

Thanks in advance,
S

Re: [solved] Synapse (launcher) not respecting default browser settings

Well, I found a kludge that appears to work - not perhaps the best way (it doesn't explain how chrome asserts itself as the default browser when installed) but...

From iceweasel preferences, making it the default browser updates the ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list file with several iceweasel application references. Changing the "iceweasel.desktop" references seemed to do the job (in my case, to luakit.desktop, which now opens url's passed from Synapse).
